movin' on up

The length of time between my posts keeps growing! To me, the month and a half since I've last written has flown by. It's incredible.

A friend of mine surprised me a couple of weeks ago by texting me and asking how I do it all, how I keep it all together....excuse me, there is someone out there that thinks I have it semi together? I was very flattered but I am definitely not "keeping it all together".

There are days I really struggle. Days I just want slip away and completely ignore all obligations because I feel just can't handle it. Luckily that doesn't last long!!

I don't mean to complain--every single thing going on in my life is amazing and I am extremely blessed. It is just a lot all at one time. I wouldn't recommend to anyone to attend graduate school (even part time), plan a wedding, and renovate a house, all while being a (middle school) teacher and trying to sleep and have some sort of life if at all possible to avoid it. So, no, there is no way to have myself together on all of those points at all times. Something suffers when I give something else attention. I have become a pretty good juggler, but the most important thing is that I have learned to not be so hard on myself. I know that I work hard. I know that I give all that I possibly can to each thing in my life. I am more confidant in myself than ever and that is a great feeling. So that's the key, just don't be so hard on yourself! Chances are you are doing the best you can, like Michelle :)

Anyway, back to what you are here for! I titled this "movin' on up" because we are going to look at the attic! The attic was a complete nightmare, as I said in the previous post. They didn't make that attic with the idea in mind that it would be finished one day and even if it did, they had plaster and plaster can cover a lot more sins than drywall can. So perfectly square walls and nice angles were not a priority. We had the first team of hangers quit on us-they could find easier work for the same amount of money. A second person wanted to charge us a lot, just to hang. We finally found someone willing to do the work at a decent price and then the finisher was able to come in and do his work as well. And just like that (ha!) it is done.

view of the snow!

I can't wait until this space is completely finished! We have decided on carpet (though hardwood would be so much prettier) for a soft surface that also reduces noise for those on the second floor. Plus, its much cheaper than hardwood!

The downstairs bathroom is almost complete as well, so I will write a post soon on the bathroom--I'm already in love!
